HENRY, AILEEN OSBORN --
Aileen Osborn Henry was born March 8, 1917 in Des Moines, New Mexico and died June 15, 2007 in Roswell, New Mexico at her home. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Virgil, her parents, Sam and Hassie Osborn, her brother, Kenneth Osborn and her two infant twin children, Larry Don and Barbara Ann.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Bish and husband Don, sister-in-law Mildred Shirley, brother-in-law Theodore Henry, four children: Ron Henry and wife Voncille, David Henry and wife Nancy, Duane Henry and wife Yongtae, Marsha Webb and husband Danny, seven grandchildren: Randy, Anya, Nicholas, Jeremy, and Elliot Henry, Justin and Jayson Hoyl, six great grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
Aileen received her BA degree from New Mexico Highlands University and taught elementary education in Espanola, Dexter and Hobbs. She was active in her church and community wherever she lived. For many years, she was the choir director of the Dexter Baptist Church, where she also played the organ and piano and taught
Sunday School. She taught private piano lessons in Dexter. In Hobbs, she founded the Dial for Prayer Ministry, served on the Community Concert Board, worked as a volunteer for the Crisis Line, and was active in the American Association of University Women. Aileen was a member of First Methodist Church of Hobbs, St. Pauls United Methodist Church of Las Cruces and First Baptist Church of Roswell, where she sang in the Senior Choir.
Aileen found deep meaning in her relationship with her husband, Virgil, with whom she formed a great partnership, characterized by mutual love and the care and guidance of their children. She was also an independent thinker and took great pride in her career and other endeavors, including teaching young children how to read.
Aileen had great determination, which included her effort to live, even in the face of very serious physical problems toward the end of her life.
The family wishes to thank each of the Comfort Keepers caregivers who provided Aileen with very conscientious and skilled care at the end of her life. Special thanks and recognition go to Teresa Land for her dedication and invaluable assistance to Aileen over the last three years. The family also wishes to thank Vista Care Hospice for being readily available to provide medical care at the end of Aileens life and Dr. Jinnah for his respect for Aileen and her worth as a person during her last years of life. Heartfelt thanks also go to each of Aileens friends and family members, who loved her and visited her when she was sick.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be Don Bish, Kenneth Berry, Lloyd Stone and Farris Nelson.
The family asks you give memorials to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., at Lagrone Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
