, ALICE OLETA BRISTOW Graveside services are set for 2:00 P. M., Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Memory Lawn Cemetery for Oleta Hobbs, age 87, of Roswell.
On September 1, 2007, Oleta Hobbs passed away to be with the Lord. Oleta was born on September 17, 1919 to Isaac Newton and Bobbie Bristow in Rule, Texas.
Oleta is survived by two sisters; Mable Butts and her husband Clifford of Dexteer, N. M., and Ernestine Hamilton and her husband Don of Clovis, N. M. She was preceded in death by one sister Lilly Anderson and brothers Erby, Nolan and Grady Bristow.
Oleta is also survived by her two sons, Clinton Doyle Hobbs and wife Carylon of Roswell, N. M., Wesley Hobbs and wife Jennette of Mertzon, TX., and daughter Barbara Griffin and husband Stanley of Roswell, N. M. Oletea is survived by nephew Bill Anderson and wife Linda of Roswell, N. M., and daughter-in-law Sue Hobbs of Roswell, N. M. Mrs. Hobbs also has nine grandchildren: Carlon Baker, and husband Jerry, Marty Helmsteller, and husband Tim, Clifford David Hobbs, and wife Lisa all of Big Springs, TX., Julie McCormack and husband Kevin, Deborah Price and husband Perry, John Griffin and wife Jill, Leslie Griffin all of Roswell, N. M., Matt Rutherford and wife Amy of San Angelo, TX, and LeAnn Rutherford of Mertzon, TX. Oleta also had twenty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Oleta was known by many friends as she ran the caf at the Roswell Sale Barn for 32 years. Oleta and her husband Clinton were known to everyone as Papa and Granny Hobbs. For many years they devoted their time for their grandchildren and 4-H clubs, and their members. Oleta was a life time members and very active with Bethel Baptist Church. Years later Mr. Hobbs preceded Oleta in death on October 24, 1989.
Following her husbands death Oleta dedicated her time volunteering at Mission Arch Care Center for more than 14 years taking care of the elderly, setting up activities and her favorite Bingo.
The family extends many thanks to the following people: Dr. Herrera, Staff and Nurses at Mission Arch Care Center, Vista Care, Pastor Richard Grisham and Bethel Baptist Church.
