Alma Wilson

A visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Alma Jean Wilson, 86, who left this life of natural causes and arose to be with the Lord on July 6, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1405 N. Sycamore Street in Roswell, NM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
She was born January 8, 1929 to Russell and Velma Appleman of Decatur, Illinois.
Alma loved seeing new places around the world. When the family lived in Bangkok, Thailand, she would make sure the kids saw as much of Thailand and India as she could. She spent many years working on the family genealogy with her sister and son. She prided herself in taking care of the Altar in the church until her lack of mobility made it impossible. Her other hobbies included making jewelry, bowling, gardening, and playing Bingo.
Alma stated that when her husband Kenneth, retired from the Air Force, they would move one more time and never move again. So in the summer of 1974, the family made their final move to Roswell, NM. She was an educator all of her adult life, educating her children and being a teacher. She made her kids take music lessons and learn everything that religion could teach a person. She was the world that her family always circled around and found peace in.
Her parents and her husband, Kenneth Edward Wilson, precede her in death.
Alma is survived by her sister; Dorothy Burgener, sons; Richard Lynn and Robert Alan, her daughter; Deborah Sue, nephew; Curtis Burgener, two granddaughters; Leslie Medina and Kimberly Wilson and one grandson; Brian Wilson, and 2 great grandsons, Jonathan and Samuel Plies.
