WISHARD, ANCLE LEE FRANKLIN Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Ancle Lee Franklin Wishard, age 93, of Roswell, who passed away on July 7, 2011. Doug Austin of West Country Club Church of Christ will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011.
Ancle was born on March 29, 1918 in Ladonia, Texas to Robert W. Wishard and Grace Victoria Whitcamp. They have both preceded him in death as well as three brothers, Henry Wishard, Cornelius Wishard and Arthur Wishard daughter, Victoria Wishard.
Ancle married his loving wife Navada Laverne Mayfield on July 3, 1940 in Roswell. She survives him at the family home.
He is also survived by two sons: Tim Wishard and Mark Wishard and his wife Jan daughter: Sharon Christian and her husband Mark four grandchildren Cheri Combee, Shelli Wishard, Amy Wishard and Pamala Wishard four great grandchildren: William, Marshall and Wade Combee and Victoria Sainz.
In 1942 Ancle began work at Roswell Army Airfield as a mechanics learner, War Department, Civil Services. In 1965 he relocated to Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming Civil Engineering Control Center where he retired after 31 years in the Civil Service. In 2006 he and his wife returned to Roswell.
During his aircraft maintenance days in 1946, as Aircraft Chief Inspector he had worked on Aircraft that made or had made history, including Hells Angels, Enola Gay, Bocks Car, Daves Dream, The Great Artiste and Lucky Lady.
Ancle was very active in the Church of Christ serving as a deacon for 10 years and later as and elder in Roswell and Cheyenne, WY. He was one of the first coaches in Sertoma Little League Baseball on the Eastside behind Farmers Market, later coaching Pony League, and Babe Ruth. All the things he has accomplished are too numerous to mention. A man with a kind heart, strong faith in our Lord and Savior and a loving father. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Ponderosa Christian Camp, 45 Us Forest Rd. 266, Ponderosa, NM 87044.
Pallbearers will be Roger Whitcamp, Kelly Whitcamp, Bob Cates, Willie Chavez, Carl Day and Larry Coulter.
