MCCLENNY, ANNIE BURNETT -- Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 27 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Annie Burnett McClenny, age 88, of Roswell, who passed away November 19, 2006 at a local nursing home. Rev. Daniel Praeuner will officiate, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Annie was born October 16, 1918 to R.J. McClenny, who came to NM in 1901, and Jennie James McClenny, the adopted daughter of Roswell pioneer Capt. Jason W. James. Both parents preceded her in Death, as well as her brother, James J. McClenny.
Annie is survived by Don and Earlene Clark of Roswell, and Janetta and Richard Knight of Albuquerque, who adopted her as their family due to her long-term friendship with their sister, Sally. She is beloved by all members of the Clark family and they will miss her.
Annie graduated from Roswell High School in 1936 and from North Texas State University, Denton, Texas, in 1940, with degrees in music and education. She taught for many years in Roswell schools, including Mark Howell School, Flora Vista and Parkview, and in Oregon at various schools. She was a Christian from her youth and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years. She played the piano and organ at Immanuel Lutheran for a number of years and was in the choir. She still was devoted to her church even though she was unable to attend in recent years due to her health. She was also a member of the Organ Society of Roswell.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
