Audrey Payne

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 24, 2014 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Audrey Jewell Gamble Payne, age 98, of Roswell, who passed away on January 18, 2014. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Doug Austin of West Country Club Road Church will officiate.

Audrey was born on January 22, 1915 to Jesse and Bessie Gamble in Savoy, Texas. They have both preceded her in death. She married Herman C. Payne in Lubbock, Texas. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables, a Sunday School Teacher, loved travels to Russia, which included a religious trip to Russia.

She is survived by two sons: David George Payne of Walnut Creek, California and Freddie Michael Payne and his wife Julia of Lake Havasu City, Arizona one daughter: Frankie M. Snyder and her husband Arnold Ray Snyder of Palm Desert, California two brothers: J.L. Gamble and his wife Lina of Coral Gables, Florida and Clyde Gamble also four grandchildren and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she has also been preceded in death by a son: Jack Kent Payne, a sisterin law: Martha Lou Gamble.
