Barbara Harris

Barbara (Hollowwa) Harris passed away, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at her home in Northern Lea County, New Mexico. She was born on June 4, 1950 to G.C. and Barbara (Connors) Hollowwa in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After graduating from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, she attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, where she met her future husband, Wesley (Wes) Harris. After dating in college, Wes asked her to marry him and move to his ranch in Lea County. Barbara accepted, and the two wed on March 18, 1972. The treeless plains of the Llano Estacado made her homesick for the forests of northern New Mexico, and so Barbara and Wes spent the next decades foresting their five-acre homestead, while growing a wholesale tree nursery where they both worked. Barbara loved her family, and spent countless hours with her daughter, nieces, and nephews, and later her grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and beloved grandson.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wes Harris; daughter Sara Harris, son-in-law Ryan Latham, and grandson Wesley Latham of Midland, Texas; mother Barbara Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother and sister-in-law Kerwin and Carol Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother and sister-in-law Chris and Jean Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother John Michael Hollowwa of Longmont, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Perl and RoseAnn Harris of Plains, Texas; and nieces and nephews: Les and Becky Wooten of Lubbock, Texas; David and Taunya Campbell of Lovington, New Mexico; Brad and Krystal Harris of Tatum, New Mexico; Shane and Kathleen Gray of Charlotte, North Carolina; Ross Maupin and Carole Smila of Brooklyn, New York; Sean and Jackie Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Connor and Cristina Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Marissa Hollowwa of Austin, Texas; Taylor Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Lauren Hollowwa of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
