Barbara Jean Morris, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at her residence in Roswell, NM. She was born March 14, 1930 in Bouie, TX to Marvin and Millie Garrett and was 1 of 8 children. Barbara moved to New Mexico around the age of 5 and graduating from Roswell High School. She loved working at Prices Creamery as a teen. Barbara was very active in the community, she was a member of Grace Community Church, attended Community Bible Study and sang in the church choir at the Methodist Church. Barbara volunteered at the Assistance League and was a member of the telephone pioneers. Barbara also worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company that later became Quest. She retired after 30 years. Barbara then later married Robert J. Morris.
Barbara enjoyed painting and working in the yard on her rose bushes. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved God’s word and enjoyed passing it along to others.
Deuteronomy 4.9 says, “do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and their children after them”.
Barbara is preceding in death by her parents, Marvin and Millie Garrett; her stepmother, Juanita Garrett; her husband, Robert J. Morris; her sister, Dorothy Stumberg; and her brother, William Teddy Garrett.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Durward and his wife Annie Garrett of WA; her brother, Tommy and wife Jamie Murrell of Roswell; brother, Buzzy and wife Wendy Murrell of Cochiti Lake, NM; sister, Pat and her husband Don Parsons of FL; sister, Sally Schackelford of Oregon. Barbara is also survived by her children, daughter, Theresa and her husband Clifford Boehms of Roswell; son, Carlton and wife Jana Blewett; son David and his wife Vicki Blewett of Roswell; grandchildren, Shilo and her husband Johnnie Lujan of Roswell; Christopher and his wife, Rebecca Blewett of Frisco, TX; Bethany Blewett of College Station, TX; Joseph and his wife Emma Boehms of MI; Mike and his wife Kim Perry of Roswell; Brandon Perry of Roswell. Barbara was also blessed with great Grandchildren, Taylor and her husband, Miles McCullar of Artesia; Peter DeGroot of Roswell; Ellah Lujan of Roswell; Evelyn and Amelia Boehms of MI; Colton Perry of Albuquerque; great great grandchildren, Reece and Roan McCullar of Artesia and many more extended family members.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Rd, Roswell, NM with Pastor Rick Hale officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery, 3101 S. Main St., Roswell.
Pallbearers will be Carlton Blewett, David Blewett, Christopher Blewett, Peter DeGroot, Johnnie Lujan, Clifford Boehms.
