B.C. was born February 3, 1917 in Chillicothe, TX to Hampton and Kathleen Carter. Both parents are deceased. He passed away May 17, 2007 in Roswell, NM.
B.C. married Hazel Potter of Dalhart, TX on May 30, 1942 in Lake Charles, LA. She preceded him in death in 1985. B.C. had one brother, Temple Carter, and a sister, Helen Archer. Both are deceased. He is survived by a son Dr. Barry Carter, and his wife Bonnie of Roswell. He is also survived by grand-daughters Alaina Carter of Alexandria, VA and Lauren Carter of Washington, DC
B.C. received a BS degree from West Texas State University in 1938, majoring in mathematics and physics. He earned a Masters degree in education administration from Eastern New Mexico Unitersity in 1953. Other graduate work was done at New York Universtiy, New Mexico University and New Mexico Tech.
B.C. spent a total of 34 years teaching high school math, 31 of those years at Roswell High School. He was honored as a Hall of Fame Teacher after retirement in 1977.
During World War II, B.C. spent 5 years training and serving as a meteorologist in the Air Force. He spent 32 months in the Mediterranean Threater. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1963 as a Lt. Col.
B.C. was an active member of the Country Club Road Church of Chrsit until illness prevented his attendence. He served as high school and adult Bible school teacher for 40 years.
B.C. was a faithful Christian. He was a loving and caring provider for his wife and son. He loved his grand-daughters dearly. B.C. was the best teacher he was capable of being.
In lieu of flowers, B.C. requested memorials be sent to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales or to your favorite medical research association.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
