A rosary will be held at 7pm on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Assumption Catholic Church for Betty L. Kelly, 67 years of age, who passed away on September 17, 2011 surrounded by family and friends at a local hospital. The resurrection mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Pacquing officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Frisco Catholic Cemetery near Reserve, New Mexico. Father Bill McCann will officiate.

Betty Lou was born December 11, 1943 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to William Kelly, Jr. and Fannie RomeroKelly, who have both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Kelly and Wilford J. Kelly.

She was raised on a ranch between Glenwood and Reserve, NM AKA Gut Ache Mesa. She went to grade school in Glenwood and graduated from Reserve High School. Betty was proud to have been a lifetime resident of New Mexico and had resided in Roswell for 40 years. For more than a decade, she served as one of the nursing faculty members at Eastern New Mexico UniversityRoswell ENMUR. She was also an alumni of ENMUR receiving her A.D.N. degree in 1988. She received her B.S.N. degree from the University of New Mexico in 1992, and completed her M.S.N. degree at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1995. Her passion in life was instructing nursing students and following their successes. She thoroughly enjoyed outdoor sports and loved to travel. She cherished and enjoyed time spent with family and dear friends.

Betty is survived by her wonderful children, Tracy J. Laney son and his wife Lupe, and Terri Lynn Harlow daughter, and husband Jim. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her two much loved sisters, Sue Greear and Lucy Dorr, and one brother Emmett Kelly, plus several nieces, cousins, and aunt.

Pallbearers will be Karen Curtis, Gloria McDaniel, Chris Goodyear, Rachel Gallagher, Teresa Luna, Barbara Whitten, Candi Miller, Felicia Harvey, Toni Hall, Dova Callihan, Fran Haas, Fran Wallis, Judy Hobson, Karolyn Anderson, Violet Mills, Viola Jaramillo, Nan Hudson, Shirley Scott Downey, Connie Wehrheine, Carol Ann Ritz, Jacque Fryar, Linda Oberg.

Honorary pallbearers will include all nursing students she encountered and loved during her nursing career.

Betty was an active member of Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church and she loved belonging to this Catholic community, whom she credits in guiding her into a deeper relationship with God the Almighty.

Betty loved the life that GOD bestowed upon herand thanking GOD she daily recited the Twenty Third Psalm in his honor. She professes that through this Psalm, GOD granted her the special grace to love, plus the strength to live, the strength to endure, and the strength to die.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to All Saints Catholic School, co Assumption Catholic Church, 2808 N. Kentucky, Roswell, NM 88201.
