A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date for Bobby Lee Vandewart who passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, Jan 12, 2009 at the age of 81.

Bobby was born September 17, 1927 in Enid, Oklahoma to Terry and Grace Basham. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her brother, Otis Basham.

Bobby moved to Roswell as a young child. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1945 where she was a cheerleader. She attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Roswell.

She married the love of her life, James Manning Vandewart, Oct 9, 1949 in Roswell, NM. He preceded her in death July 12, 2006. Bobby and Jim owned and operated the Eagle Aerie Ranch. They later sold the ranch and retired in Roswell.

Bobby never met a stranger. She had an outgoing bubbly personality and had many friends. She could often be seen dining with her friends at the Elks Lodge and Peppers. She was the life of the party. Her optimistic and enthusiastic attitude made her a pleasure to be around. She will be truly missed by her family and many friends.

Survivors include two sons: Geoffrey Vandewart and wife, Linda of Roswell, and Michael Vandewart and wife, Claudia of Pilot Point Texas: a sister, Lenore Bartlett and husband, Stan of Santa Barbara. CA. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Basham of Carlsbad, NM and Ceil Vandewart of San Angelo, TX. Three grandchildren Burr Vandewart of Midland, Texas, Staci Vandewart and fianc Aaron, of Roswell, NM and Kyle Vandewart and wife, Lindsay of North Glenn, Colorado: Three great-grandchildren: Jeremy Smith and wife, Irma, Jodie Mize and husband, Justin, Aria Vandewart and a great granddaughter due in May. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
