Carrol Dow

Carrol Joan Dow (Mee Maw), age 80, of Roswell, was granted her angel wings Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

Carrol was born September 5, 1939 in Millerstown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Hackenberger.

Carrol was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Dow, and daughter, Nancy Gilbert. Carrol graduated from Roswell High School in 1957; she was of the first class to attend all three years at the current Roswell High School and was involved heavily with RHS Class of 1957 reunions. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s, the Extension Club, Sunrise Optimist, and a member of the President’s Club with Avon. Carrol enjoyed selling Avon for forty-eight years; her customers over the years became her life-long friends. She was a member of the RHS Band Booster Club, and always supported Booster Clubs for her children and grandchildren. Carrol was also a member of the Valley View PTA and First United Methodist MYF Sponsor. Carrol also enjoyed her work with sales builders off and on since 2003.

She had such a sweet spirit about her, if you ever dared her to do something guaranteed she’d do it! She was playful and loved doing “Chinese” fire drills in the car. Carrol never knew a stranger. Carrol loved being involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities. She fundraised endlessly and tirelessly for Girl Scouts, RHS band, RHS Charlie’s Angels Dance Team, and GHS Cheer. She followed her grandchildren all over the state. She and Tommy never missed one of Dallas and Steven’s games. She made as many of Connor’s games as possible. Dance team and cheer competitions were a must attend event as well.

Carrol is survived by two daughters Cheryl Martinez (Ernesto) and Tammy Roe; three grandsons and nine granddaughters, Dallas Gilbert (Tiffany), Carrie Glenn (Kyle), Teresa Martinez (Mark Valdivia), Grace Martinez, Catherine Martinez, Steven Martinez (Lauren Bullock), Jacqueline Martinez (Blade Allen), Michaela Martinez, Darci Roe (Skyler Grantier), Abbi Roe, Connor Roe, and Kaitlyn Roe; several great grandchildren Hudson Gilbert, Adrianne Vigil, Emery Gilbert, Maverick Valdivia, Everly Grantier, Hunter Glenn and Allison Glenn. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 3, 2020, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, Roswell, NM, interment will follow at the South Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the LaGrone Funeral Chapel.

Dallas Gilbert, Steven Martinez, Connor Roe, Kyle Glenn, Mark Valdivia, Blade Allen, Skyler Grantier, and Gabriel Perez-Torres will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Ernesto Martinez and Charles Ward.
