ZIPP, CHARLES J. CHUCK Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at South Park cemetery, for Charles J. Chuck Zipp, age 88, of Roswell, who passed away November 24, 2007 at his home.
Zipp was born July 14, 1919 in Lafayette, Indiana to Rudolph A. Rudy Zipp and Ellen K. Koch who preceded him in death. He was married on October 2, 1943 to Betty L Jarrell of Roswell. They were married for 51 years until she preceded him in death.
Zipp is survived by a son Joe Zipp and a daughter Becki Zipp both of Platteville, Colorado, a Grandson Chad Zipp, a Granddaughter Calyn Ogie, a Great Granddaughter, Lanae Slater, Great Grandsons, Brandon Castaneda, and Greg Ogie, and Great Great Granddaughter Hayli Brannan.
Zipp was a veteran of World War II, serving from September 1941 to November 1945, as Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps pilot, gunner, and bombardier. He was assigned to Air Corps Training Command as Chief Instructor. Prior to WWII, he attended Purdue University and graduated form Oklahoma University in 1947 with a bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He then went on to own Zipps Prescription Pharmacy in the Plaza Medical Center.
Zipp was a member of Air Corps Reserve Officers Association, B24 Liberator Club RAAFWAAF, Veterans Association of Roswell, National Rifle Association Task Force, Oklahoma Alumni Association, Fellow of Galen Leadership Association, Fellow of American College of Apothecaries, Oklahoma and New Mexico Pharmaceutical Association, Model A Ford Club of America, Rio Pecos Kennel Club, ACK German Sheppard Club, and the Roswell Humane Society Board of directors and was a charter founder.
Zipp was a lover of wildlife.
In lieu of flowers the family requests to make memorials to a charity of chioce.
Honorary pallbearers will be Maurice Willis, Steve Willis, Ken Thompson, Curtis Fore, Charles Shannon, Ed Osborne, John Allman, Brain Stokes, Leon Marler, and Chad Zipp.
