Gleneta Wagner Lewis

Gleneta Wagner Lewis passed quietly from this life just before midnight on Sunday, January 5, 2025, as she would have wished at her home with her children.

Gleneta, along with her twin brother, Charles Glen Wagner, was born on February 11,1932 in Faxon, Oklahoma to W.L. and Carrie Wagner. They joined an older brother, Lois Theo Wagner.

The family moved to Roswell in 1937, following others of the Wagner family who had also moved here. Her extended family members were long-term members of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Her family eventually established a farm north of Roswell where Goddard High School is now located. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1950. She married John Coleman Sr. on March 17, 1950, at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She worked for over thirty years as a hair stylist in Amarillo, Texas before returning to Roswell in 1986. She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, crocheting, cooking, fishing, and caring for her dogs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband, and her beloved great-uncle, Riley Hair.

She is survived by her three children, John (Mary Alice) Coleman; Howard Coleman of Roswell; daughter Rebecca Reihle of Xenia, Ohio; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces Karen Hendricks and Cynthia Griffin; and one nephew, Charles Wagner Jr.

Our family is very thankful for the exceptional care given in her final days by Gentiva Hospice and enabled her to remain in her home.

As mother wished, she will be cremated and interred with her family at South Park Cemetery at a later date. She requested that there be no service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the Roswell Humane Society or to The Assurance Home.
