SHEPLER, CLARENCE MARK-- Services for Clarence Mark Shepler will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clarence Mark Shepler was born Oct. 23, 1924, the 11th of 15 children of Mason Nathan Shepler and Laura Jane Knoll, both deceased. Clarence completed 8 years of school and went to work at Lustberg Nast Jacket Factory as a presser.

In1943 he was inducted into the US Army Air Corp. where he served as a belly turret gunnertail gunner on a B-17 in the Pacific. He was discharged in Roswell in November 1945 from the US Army Air Corp. He re-enlisted for 1 year with a 90 day furlough in between and was discharged from the US Air Force on May 8th, 1947.

On April 8th, 1947, he married Betty Rose Browning, who survives him at their home.

He worked for the Reading Railroad, the Bethlehem Steel Plant, and the Cornwall Ore Mines in Pennsylvania where his brother Russell died. In Roswell, he drove a taxi and was associated with several glass shops. He was a choir member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Ethel Brown, and sister-in-law Jean Shepler of Pennsylvania; his children, Gloria McAdams and her husband Marvin Ray of Louisiana, Gary Shepler and his wife Carol Cheswell of Roswell, Laura Shepler of Portales, Debra Brewton and her husband Dennis of Roswell; his grandchildren Deleasa Dyess and her husband Huey of Louisiana, Sheila Grimm and her husband Jarrod of Dexter, Teresa Pirtle, of Texas, Christopher Underwood and his wife Teresa of Hobbs, Kerensa Underwood, Regina Harless and her fiance Jack Hunt, Toby Harless of Portales, Deanna Brewton of Texas, Donavan Brewton of Roswell, Dewayne Brewton and his wife Florenda of Arizona, Daniel Brewton and his wife Stacy of Oklahoma, Darrell Brewton and friend Sammie of Arizona, David Brewton of Roswell; his great grandchildren Darren, Jarrod and Curtis Dyess of Lousiana, Maverick and Mariah Grimm of Dexter, Crisstopher Clifford Underwood of Roswell, Eric Garcia, Alyxandra Salas and her husband Jesus, Daniel and Adam Garcia of Hobbs, Shyann Shepler and Scoti Seat, Lacey, Austin and Hayden Harless of Portales, Nathaniel Caspi of Texas; and Tyler Brewton of Oklahoma; and his great great grandchildren Chloe and Gabby Salas of Hobbs.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Brewton, Jarrod Grimm, Donavan Brewton, David Brewton, Chris Underwood, and Hoyt Hardwick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Mobbley and Dewayne Hardwick.
