To my Family with my Love
When my little day is over and it comes my time to go,
When the mist lies on the River and the lamp is burning low,
When the boatman brings the ferry, I will go without a fear
Because Ive tried to do my best as Ive loved and labored here.
I trust I will leave some flowers that will bloom when I am gone,
Some roses or forget-me-nots that will stand and greet the dawn.
Perhaps a patch of merigolds will light their fires when I die
And a woodthrush will sing longer because my hand touched his sky.
Theyll not say that I was famous or gathered wealth from afar,
P style
