Connie Lee Corn passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2011 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. She had requested no services be held.
Connie was born to Leonard and Verdie Ormseth on December 18, 1934 in Beaver Creek, MN. They preceded her in death as well as a brother, Jake Ormseth, a sister, Betty Lentner and a brother inlaw, David Ackroyd.
Connie was a life long resident of Roswell where she married Graham Corn on January 19, 1953 and had two children Gary and Debe.
She had many friends and neighbors over the years who loved her deeply, especially for her sense of humor and for being so down to earth. It was said many times you never had to guess what Connie was thinking she would always let you know.
Connie had a lifetime love of baseball, beginning as a little girl listening to games on the radio to more recently being a big Atlanta Braves fan. Her all time favorite movie and book was Gone with the Wind which she cherished and had read and seen many times. She loved country music, especially Ray Price and For the Good Times. She also had a love of antiques that brought her so much joy to refinish and admire.
One of her closest treasures was her little shih tzu, Bubba whom she had gotten as a puppy eight years ago and was her constant companion. He is moving into his new home with her son Gary as she had requested a few days before her passing.
She had requested no services because she didnt believe in funerals and the deep suffering they caused her in her life. She left us this little poem which pretty much sums it all up.
Remember me with smiles and laughter for thats how Ill remember you all.
If you can only remember me with sorrow and tears,
then dont remember me at all.
Connie is survived by her son Gary Corn and his wife Deborah of Medford, OR daughter: Debe Corn of Santa Fe, NM one grandchild: Mitchell Corn of Roswell sisters: Lorraine Babe Ackroyd of Roswell and Delores Dee Connell of Luvern, MN brother: Dennis Dennie Ormseth and his wife Peggy of Roswell, and numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends as well as her beloved pet Bodacious Bubba Corn.
Memorials may be made to the Roswell Humane Society or charity of your choice.
