RYDHOLM, CURTIS LIONEL JR.

Curtis L. Rydholm Jr.s life makes for one epic story. First, our hero meets his beautiful leading lady. Maelisa and Curtis love was the stuff of fairy tales. Actually it was better than a fairy tale Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and all their respective princes had nothing on Curtis and Maelisa. In April 1984, Curtis spontaneously proposed to Maelisa saying, Marry me, bear my children, let me die in your arms. Maelisa was not convinced by this eloquent proposal, and told him, Let me pray about it, and ask me again in three days. When Curtis asked her again, her reply was an ecstatic Yes They were married July 14, 1984, and with that Curtis won his fair lady.

Two new characters entered Curtis story in 1986. First the heir to the throne: his firstborn son Andrew, and, 27 minutes later, his baby girl Adri. The look in his baby blues said it all, our hero was never prouder in his life. This blissful fairytale continued when his little princess, Markie was born the following year. Finally, in 1990, Gabrielle came alonghis baby, and with that addition his perfect family was complete.

Curtis was a warrior, a gentleman, hunter, protector, and adventurer. He did everything within his power to keep his family safe, happy, and entertained, and he succeeded. His first allegiance was always to the Lord, and he wholeheartedly strove to honorably serve Him. He served his lady with his whole hearther every request was As you wish. He saved his three little princesses over and over from the daily crises of life, and he taught his son to always fight on the side of good. He took special care of his trusty steedGigi. No one ever loved a horse as much he loved that 1987 Chevy pickup.
A dark cloud came to rest over the family as a doctor made him aware of a might villain, Cancer, who would come to be his archnemesis. Diagnosed with an ocular melanoma in 2009, Curtis went on the offensive and decisively won the victory in this first battle with Cancerbut it would not be his last. The family celebrated their triumph, and they were happier and closer than ever.
Curtis had a renewed passion for life when he was declared cancerfree in May of 2009. The song Live Like You Were Dying became his personal anthem as he chose to take on every adventure that should come his way. He climbed mountains. He saved his damsel when he had his wedding vows renewed by the King of Rock and Roll in Las Vegas. He explored new territories and ventured to his past hauntssaw old friends in Nashville and Texas, made new ones in Cleveland and Denver. He quested for the elixir vitae, and found more than a few which were contenders for the title. He expressed his overwhelming gratefulness for all of the wonderful things in his life. He decided hed change the world, one day at a time. Failure was not an option our hero seemed invincible.
Unfortunately, that nasty dragon of Cancer came back with a vengeance in May of this year. He fought with everything he had and used every weapon available to himradiation, chemotherapy, and a promising new treatment Yervoy but cancer had decided to punish him for every good day he enjoyed over the past two years. He battled valiantly, fought for every breath right until the bitter end. He never gave upit wasnt in him to admit defeat, but he eventually succumbed on November 7, 2011. He kept his word to Maelisa and died in her arms.
Though our story does not end happily, Curtis life was an amazing journey. Our hearts are broken now, but we choose to celebrate the legendary legacy of a man who always knew, Its a Wonderful Life
