Dale Edward Miller of Roswell, NM, passed from this life on February 28, 2021, due to natural causes, unrelated to COVID. He had just obtained the milestone of 93 years of age. He was born at home on February 22, 1928 in Roswell, NM, to Charles A. Miller and Grace Ellen (Caron) Miller. Roswell became his forever home and it was there that he met the love of his life, Lora Jeannine (Waldrop) Miller. The two married on November 16, 1949 and enjoyed a wonderful life together for 71 years. During this time, Dale worked as a printer at the Roswell Daily Record and later at Hall-Poorbaugh Publishing where he retired in 1990. He had an extraordinary work ethic and it showed in every area of his life. Dale also served in the New Mexico National Guard and retired after 30 years of service as a Command Sergeant Major. After retirement, Dale and Jeannine were able to participate in activities they enjoyed — travelling, square dancing and volunteer work. Dale was well known at the local Chaves County Joy Center and recognized for his willingness to help in any capacity.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and one brother and one sister. He is survived by his three children, Mark Miller and his wife Debbie of Hartsel, Colorado, Rick Miller and his wife Bonnie of Midland, Texas and Marcia Maestas and her husband Rudy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. His surviving grandchildren are Amanda Blatnick, Josh Miller, Billy Weston, Sr., Jess Weston, Lisa Maestas, Julie Maestas-Pierce, and Juan Maestas as well as seventeen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews across the country are saddened at his passing. Dale was a kind and gentle man who was loved by many and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has already taken place and a celebration of Dale's life will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
