Daniel was born on December 15, 1949 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Luther and Elsie Simpson, both parents have preceded him in death, as well as a son, Daniel Ray Simpson, Jr.

Daniel married Cathie Cunningham on November 25, 1967 in Winchester, Virginia. She survives him at the family home.

Daniel was a production supervisor.

He is also survived by a son: Daniel Charles Simpson of Roswell daughter: Carol Ricketts of Winchester, Virginia.
