Daniel Valdez

VALDEZ, DANIEL O. "LASH" - A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, Monday, March 2, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Daniel O. "Lash" Valdez, who passed away on February 26, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 2, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Father Charlie Martinez, OFM will be officiating.

Daniel was born on May 26, 1934 to Samuel and Josephine Ortiz Valdez. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved music and played the piano, accordion and guitar. Daniel played poker and loved going to the casino. He loved having family gatherings. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with all his family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. Daniel was always there when you needed him, no matter what it was. Daniel proudly served his country in the New Mexico National Guard and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Daniel is survived by his son Daniel S. Valdez of Roswell and his children, Shasity Valdez Murphy, Daniella Valdez, Vannessa Valdez, Pearla Valdez; daughter Estrella "Star" Martinez of Roswell and her children, Monica L. Martinez, Serafina and husband Micheal Gustamantes, Estrella Martinez, Oscar O. Martinez; daughter Pearl Cruz of Roswell and her children, Rick Vigil and Andrea Cruz; daughter Juanita and husband Chris Alarcon of Roswell and her children Tina Marie and husband Ernest Ray Allen, Daniel John Suarez and Alisa Soto; brothers, Luciano and wife Carmen Valdez of Placitos, NM, Jose Valdez of Florida, Elfigo Hernandez of Albuquerque, NM and Martin Hernandez of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Mary and husband Mike Sosa of Amarillo, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Juanita, son Johnny Valdez, sisters, Annie Lucero, Maggie Valdez, Leonarda "LaLa" Lucero.

Pallbearers will be Rick Vigil, Oscar Martinez, Daniel John Suarez, Ernest Ray Allen, Luciano Valdez. Jr. and Jacob Aragon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Monica Martinez, Serafina Gustamantes, Star Martinez, Tina Allen, Andrea Cruz, Shasity Murphy, Daniella Valdez, Vannessa Valdez and Pearla Valdez.
