Darrel was an eldershepherd at South Main Church of Christ and considered that the most important thing he was ever asked to do. He was called the Peoples Elder by some of the members because he cared so much how everyone felt.
As a friend he was a wonderful listener and would stand up for what he believed. He would state the facts and was a man of integrity. He loved to help those less fortunate and down on their luck. He had a deep commitment to share the Lord with friends and people he met in daily life.
Darrel had so much selfless concern and wanted his family to have everything. He did not want much in life- just boots, a western belt and hat, and his family. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends and loved his five children and wife deeply. Cally, his 21 month old granddaughter called him Papa D.
Darrel was not afraid to die- he loved God and knew he was going to Heaven blameless because Jesus paid the price on the cross.
