EBERT, DAVID A. -- A Memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 5, 2007 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for David Ebert, age 81 of Roswell, who passed away July 2, 2007 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Fr. Paul Juniet of St. Peters Catholic Church will officiate.
David was born May 9, 1926 in Gresham, Wisconsin to Charles and Anna Platten Ebert. David was the 7th of 8 boys. Both parents preceded him in death, as well as 7 brothers, Gervase, Urban, Vernon, Oliver, Charles, Rembert and Quentin. Also preceding him were 2 sisters-in-law, Bonita and Betty.
He married Elaine Bennett on September 20, 1951 in Anchorage, Alaska. She survives him at the family home.
In 1951, he went to Alaska where he was a partner in Totem Truck Lines. In 1957, he sold his interest in the truck lines and the family moved back to Wisconsin. He took a position with American Can Co. as a Field Tech. Rep. in food mechanical packaging in the southern region, residing in Memphis, Tennessee. After 5 years he was transferred to Minnesota. Upon retiring due to medical disability in 1978, the family moved to Roswell.
Other survivors include 3 sons; Mark Ebert and his wife Jan of Ramona, CA, Blaise Ebert of Temecula, CA, and David Ebert and his wife Linda of Orlando, FL, 2 daughters; Gaila Ebert Shandy of Coeur-d-Alene, ID, Victoria Ebert Lirette and her husband David of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren, and 5 sister-in-laws.
David was a veteran of World War II, having served in China, Burma, India from 1944 until 1946, as a Sergeant in heavy equipment.
