DEETTE GREEN BARTLETT Funeral services for DeEtte Green Bartlett, a loving mother, 100, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday in the LaGrone Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Archie Echols officiating and special music by John Fuss.

It was an ordinary day made extraordinary when DeEtte Green Bartlett left her earthly family to join her heavenly Father. Born September 15, 1906 in Mountain Park, OK to Verla and Ollin Green, she was raised in Pecos, TX, graduated from Pecos High School and attended both McMurry College in Abilene, TX and Sul Ross College in Alpine, TX. On January 7, 1928 she married Charles W. Bartlett, Jr. of Lubbock, TX, established a home on 14th St. where they raised a son and a daughter. As charter members of St. Johns Methodist church, she taught Sunday school, influencing young lives with her faith in Jesus Christ. Both she and Charles were active in one of the earliest Christian renewal movements, Camps Farthest Out. Active also in community service, the Lubbock Sunshine study Club was one of the several organizations which she helped establish during the couples 28 years in Lubbock.

Moving to New Mexico in 1956, she and Charles joined the First United Methodist Church of Roswell where they organized a couples Bible study group. In the life of First Methodist, DeEtte taught several womens Bible studies, and used her decorating skills to enhance the churchs chapel. A member of the Olivet Study Club and the volunteer corps for one of Roswells hospitals, she was a vibrant presence. A talented oil landscape painter, she was loved and appreciated by family and friends for her deep loyalty and great sense of fun, earning the nickname, the merry grandmother. Proceeding in death by her husband Charles of 52 years, she fulfilled her life as loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, artist and community volunteer.

DeEtte is survived by: One son, Charles W. Sonny Bartlett III and wife, Joann of Roswell; one daughter, Biddie Bartlett Hampton and husband, Dan of Rockwall, TX; six grandchildren: Charles Bartlett IV and wife, Liz of Houston, TX.: DeAnn Bartlett Mills and husband, Dr. Monte of Wynnwood, PA; Deborah Bartlett MacArthur and husband, Allan of Morocco, Africa; DeEtte Hampton Starr and husband, Alan of Cameroon, Africa; Lt. Col Ret. Dan Hampton and wife Beth of St. Thomas, VI; Jennifer Hampton Wyatt and husband Kenny of Overland Park, KS, and 16 great-grandchildren; her niece DeEtte Green Zant and husband, John of Stanton, TX; sister-in-law; Bonnie Green of Midland, TX; brother-in-law Bill Bartlett and wife, Fermanetta of Amarillo, TX, and numerous Bartlett nieces and nephews.

Her children express deep appreciation to family members and caring friends as well as to the staff of Mission Arch Care Center who faithfully and lovingly helped care for DeEtte during her latter years.

Following the service, the burial will be in South Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to Firs United Methodist Church at 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Roswell, NM
