Dell Vick

A Memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at First United Methodist Church for Dell Vick, age 95, of Roswell, who passed away on December 29, 2013 at her residence. Rev. Dr. Doug Mills will officiate.

Dell was born on November 29, 1918 in Ada, Oklahoma to Clarence and Nettie Turner. She worked at lived in St. Marys Hospital in 1940. In 1941, she joined the Army Air Corp. She served in Altus, Oklahoma as a Second Lieutenant. She married Raymond Vick on May 31, 1943 in Ada, Oklahoma. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.

She returned to Roswell in 1947 and worked for Dr. Earl Latimer Jr. from 1947 to 1962, then with Dr. Randall Briggs from 19621980. Thats when she began her career volunteering at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary. She started the Ambassador Program for Retired Nurses, which she received the Nursing Legend Award for Excellence from the New Mexico Nurses Association. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church for many years.

She is survived by her husband: Raymond Floyd Vick her daughters: Mary Rodden and her husband Jack of Roswell and Suzan Wilkinson and her husband Gary of Goshen, Indiana five grandchildren: Alison Rodden Fischer and her husband Curtis, Alisa Rodden Vandevender and her husband Bruce, Paul Rodden and his fiance Mary Crow, Erik Wilkinson and his wife Krystal, and Aaron Wilkinson and his wife Brenda along with 10 great grandchildren.

She has been preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers: John Turner and Britt Turner.
