MAYES, DONALD L. Services are scheduled at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM for Donald L. Mayes, age 80, of Roswell, NM, who passed away July 1, 2011. Pastor Art George will officiate with Pastor Onsy Whicker assisting. Military services will be presented by the Veteran Honor Guard. Burial will be at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.

Donald Mayes was born August 5, 1930, in Roswell to Thomas H. and Sara Mast Mayes. He married Lessie F. Fisher in Roswell on January 6, 1962. Both his parents and his wife preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Neil Leon, Sonny Boy and Cleo Mayes.

Mr. Mayes was a Navy Veteran. He was a cable splicer for Mountain Bell Telephone which became U. S. West Telephone Company for over 34 years. He was a member of the Roswell Masonic Lodge 18 and the Hondo Masonic Lodge 74.

Survivors are three brothers: Mel Mayes of Roswell, NM, Vernon Mayes of Dumas, TX and Jimmy Mayes of Dexter, NM, as well as three sisters: Nora Beatrice George of Kileen, TX, Mavis Wilson of Lufkin, TX and Melva Graveline of Roswell, NM. along with many nieces and nephews.
