ENGLISH, DR. FRANK A. -- Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the New Mexico Military Institute Chapel for Dr. Frank A. English, age 92 of Roswell who passed away June 8, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Rev. Ruth Fowler of Trinity United Methodist Church will conduct the service.BRBRHe was born August 21, 1916 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Frank and Mae Burleson English. His parents preceded him in death.BRBRHe married Polly Merrill on June 11, 1945 in Trenton, New Jersey. They enjoyed extensive international travel prior to her death in 1998. He was an avid fan of opera and a regular attendee at the Santa Fe Opera House. He also enjoyed gardening, especially his rhubarb plants.BRBRSurvivors include a son, Randy English and his wife Jane of Ruidoso, NM, and a daughter, Susan Nobles and her husband Doug of Newcastle, OK. He is also survived by a brother, Fred English of Carrizozo, NM and one granddaughter, Jana Nobles and her husband Colin Martin of Dallas, TX.BRBRDr. English was a beloved physician and had practiced in Roswell for 65 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Pecos Valley Gun Club, the Mid Day Lions Club, the Roswell and Carrizozo Masonic Lodges, a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Roswell Shrine Club. He served his country in the U. S. Army Medical Corps during WWII.BRBRDr. Englishs education included NMMI, and the University of New Mexico. His medical degree was earned at Syracuse University, and he did his medical residency at the University of Oklahoma.BRBRVisitation will be Wednesday, June 10, from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel.BRBRFriends may share memorials online at www.lagronefuneralchapels.comBRBRIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Dr. English to the Roswell Shrine Club or the Mid-Day Lions.BRBRArrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
