Dr. Ken Leadingham, age 64, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky on August 7, 1956, to Ed and Kay Leadingham. At an early age, his family moved to Roswell, New Mexico where Ken graduated from Goddard High School in 1974. Ken completed his doctorate in Chicago at Illinois College of Optometry in 1982 and returned to Roswell to join the family practice, Leadingham Vision Center, with his father Ed and brother, Dr. Greg.
He was a past president of New Mexico Optometric Association, member of the Elks Club, and past member of Masonic Lodge No. 18. Ken loved hunting, radio-controlled airplanes, motorcycles, golf, and other activities that he enjoyed with many friends through the years. He loved his friends and his patients very much.
Ken is survived by Jacki Leadingham, his children Megan Leadingham (Andrew Dyke) of McKinney, TX, Tyler Leadingham of Littleton, CO, and Sara Leadingham of Roswell. He was affectionately known as "Ogo" ("O' Great One") by his three granddaughters, Addison Smith, Lennon Lopez, and Lucie Lopez who reside in McKinney. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Leadingham (Laura Gadbois) of Houston, TX, Ed's wife, Bette Leadingham of Grand Junction, CO, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
Ken is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ed Leadingham, his mother, Kay Leadingham, siblings Allen Leadingham, Dr. Greg Leadingham, and nephews Jason Leadingham and Christopher Leadingham.
A service to honor Ken's life will be held at a later date.
