Edwin Hammer

HAMMER, EDWIN ORVILLE Services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10:00 A.M., at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Edwin Orville Hammer, age 86, of Roswell, who passed away August 5, 2007 at a care center.

Mr. Hammer was born to Elmer O. and Elva Clark Hammer on January 25, 1921, in Indianapolis, Indiana. They both preceded him in death as well as his wife Mary Louise Causey Hammer on September 10, 2001.

Edwin married Mary Louise Causey on August 16, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Edwin Hammer was a Major in the United States Air Force. He started his career flying B-17s in WWII. He continued serving his country in the Air Force setting up bases in England in the 50s, transportation officer at the Walker AFB in late 50s and 60s; retiring as a Major in the 6th strategic aerospace wing in Idaho with full honors on November 1, 1965. Throughout his career as an Air Force Office and pilot, he received numerous honors and awards for his excellence and heroic deeds.

He is survived by his daughter: Leslie Cron and her husband Terry of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren: Christopher Cron and Brooke-Autumn Robinson and four great grandchildren, Cassidy and Caitlyn Cron and Austin and Bryce Robinson. Also surviving is a brother, David Hammer of North Carolina
