Einar Johnson was called home by his King on April 8, 2020. The son of Fred and Esther Johnson, he grew up on a small ranch in western ND. By the time he was 15 he worked in the harvest as a bundle hauler with his own team and rack. Summers he also worked on a barb-wire fencing crew and was a gandy dancer for NP Railroad.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Germany where he worked on tank engines. After his Honorable Discharge he earned his Bachelor of Forest Management degree from University of Montana. There he met and married Janice Haugen. They were blessed with 3 wonderful children.
Einar entered the National Park Service in 1962 and served in 6 beautiful National Parks. He retired with 36 years of Federal Service. He and Jan moved to Roswell in October of 1994.
Einar enjoyed hiking, square dancing, photography, playing golf, Toastmasters, Rotary International and Kiwanis Service clubs, and served his Lord Jesus in several ways including Elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roswell NM.
Einar was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Verla. He is survived by his wife Jan, son Erik (Julie), daughters Lisa and Susan Early (Scott), grandson Christopher; sister Ethel Waller, and brother Vernon, 2 nephews and 3 nieces.
