Emmett Ray

RAY, EMMETT FRANKLIN Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 PM, Monday, October 25, 2010, at Christs Church, for Emmett Franklin Ray, age 88, of Roswell, who passed away October 22, 2010 at his residence. Rev. Lonnie Owens of Christs Church will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Emmett was born August 26, 1922 in Huckabay, Texas, to Franklin and Julia Pearl Ray. They have preceded him in death as well as a brother, Stanley Ray.

Emmett married Ellen Denney Ables in 1969 in Roswell, NM. She also has preceded him in death.

Emmett is survived by children: Troy Franklin Ray and his wife Jeanne of San Diego, CA, Julia Ray Pitts and her husband Gaylen of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Judith Ables Lowe and her husband Walter of Roswell and Russell Ables and his wife Elane of Centennial, CO Brothers: Anson Ray and his wife Wannell of Amarillo, TX, Olen Ray of Amarillo, TX Sisters: Marge Johnson and her husband Carl of Garland, TX and Bess Wright of Huckabay, TX Sisterinlaw Betty Ray of Wichita Falls, TX Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Emmett was a SGT in the US Army during WWII he served in the Philippines and received a Purple Heart. He also worked as a Auto Mechanic for the Chevrolet Dealership in Roswell for 20 years. He was a coowner of Quality Auto Clinic until his retirement.

Memorials can be made to the Meals on Wheels at Joy Senior Citizen Center at 1822 N. Montana Ave, Roswell, NM 88201.
