HARWELL, ERNEST R. Services for life long rancher, Ernest R, Harwell, age 88, of Roswell will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at South Park Cemetery. Lyman Graham will officiate. Mr. Harwell passed away on December 26, 2008.

Mr. Harwell was born May 16, 1920, to James and Norma Longbotham Harwell in Rotan, Texas. Both parents have preceded him in death, as well as two brothers; Loyd and Thomas. He married Thelma Reeves on December 20, 1942 on the family ranch.

Ernest and Thelma lived most of their married life on their ranch at Duncan, NM. He was active in the Duncan Fire Department, Soil Conservation Service and the Cattle and Wool Growers Associations.

Ernest was a loving father, husband and granddad. He often expressed how proud he was of his wife and family. He was a member of Grace Community Church and also Narrow Way Church. He was loved by many and always greeted everyone with a hug and a smile.

He is survived by his wife Thelma of the family home as well as two sons; Jimmy Harwell of Albuquerque, NM and Ernest Ray Harwell Jr. of Duncan, NM; one daughter, Julie Ann Whitcamp and one son-in-law Roger Whitcamp of Roswell, NM, along with six grandchildren; David Harwell, Jeremy Harwell, Cody Harwell, Sara Robinson, Whitney Whitcamp, and Lindsey Whitcamp.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, David Harwell, Jeremy Harwell, Cody Harwell, Sara Robinson, Whitney Whitcamp, Lindsey Whitcamp along with Robert Cottrell, Roger Whitcamp, Dawn Harwell, Becky Harwell and Garrett Robinson.
