Eva Hammond

HAMMOND, EVA LILLIAN ANN Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 am at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Eva Lillian Ann Hammond, age 93 who passed away May 9, 2011 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM.

Ann was born on August 17, 1917, in Woodward, OK, the last of seven children of Forest B. Smith and Nettie Burke Smith. They have preceded her in death, as well as a daughter, Charmayne Wilson and her husband Don, and son inlaws, Bob Mason and John Sanders.

Ann was raised on a farm in Cottonwood. Ann married Walter Hammond on October 6, 1936 in Roswell. He also has preceded her in death.

Ann is survived by a son: Wally Hammond and his wife Connie of Roswell daughters: Janet Sanders of Dallas, TX and Paula Curtis and her husband Bud of Montrose, CO Eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Ann was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Eastern Star and several bridge clubs.

After many years living in Loco Hills, Maljamar and Artesia, they retired in Roswell in 1980. Although there was time and much love for her family and friends, her most joyful moments was on the golf coarse with the girls.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of La Villa, also to Dr. Madel Villegas which was her primary care physician.
