MELTON, EVA M. -- Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 15, 2008 at South Park Cemetery, for Eva M. Melton who passed away, Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Robert Holcolm of First Baptist Church will officiate.BRBREva was born on January 3, 1909 in Wellington, Texas to Levi and Cora Deering.BRBRShe and G. Harrill Melton were married in 1934. Harrill passed away in 1960. In 1982 Eva and Thompson L. Letton were united in marriage. Tom passed away in 1987, also preceded in death, son in-law, James O Coupland. BRBRSurvivors include a son, James H. Melton and wife Coleen Melton; one daughter, Cora Lyn Melton Coupland ; granddaughter, Kristen Lyn Coupland and numerous nieces and nephews.BRBR
Eva grew up on the family homestead sixty miles northeast of Roswell, graduated from high school in 1927, graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. degree in 1933 and received a M.A. degree from New Mexico Western University in 1959.
Eva was a retired teacher of thrity five years. Since 1936, she was an active member of the First Baptist church. For many years, she was a member of the E.N.M.M.C. Hospital Auxiliary.
Her prayer was that the Good Lord let her remain active as long as she lived and to live for him.
