HOBSON, FLOY- Floy, age 75, of Roswell, NM, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019.
When Floy and I met 45 years ago, it started a journey of unconditional love. She was a true helpmate, always looking out for my best interest. Even though she wasn't raised on a farm, she did whatever it took to get the job done. I didn't have much money to give her to run the house, so she started sewing all of the girl's school clothes and some of the sons. She would stay up till three am in the morning canning and freezing what we grew and still come to Hobson's Gardens to help the next day. She helped me in all the things I wanted to do. She truly had unconditional love. Floy also helped Cumberland water co-op keep going. She helped several women learn English and helped at school, she loved her community.
Floy had her favorite songs and poems, this one being at the top of the list.
There's a place where I travel
when I want to roam
and nobody knows it but me.
The roads don't go there and
the signs stay home,
and nobody knows but me.
If s far away and way afar, its
it's over the moon and the sea,
and wherever you're going
that's wherever you are
and nobody knows but me.
Floy was born February 25, 1944 in Artesia, NM to Cora Lea Ansley Davis and Lawrence Paris Davis; her brothers and wives, Sug and Bonnie Floore; and Buddy and Janie Davis.; her children and spouses, Michelle and Roy Box; Harlan and Melissia Hobson; and Candice.
Floy was a very private person, years ago she requested not to have a formal funeral. A private funeral will take place this year.
Floy’s prayer for everyone was to love each other and be a child of God.
