BELYEU, FLOYD R. Floyd Belyeu, age 88 of Roswell, N.M., formerly of Dexter, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 8, 2008. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Hagerman Cemetery. Pastor Rick Hale of Grace Community Church will officiate.
Floyd was born in Dublin, Texas on April 25, 1920 to parents Harvey and Lula Belyeu. In 1937, the family moved to the Pecos Valley where Floyd soon met and married Wanna Lee Derrick in 1941.
He lived most of his life in the Dexter area where he began a career with Bogle Farms. Using his farming knowledge and skills, he worked as a foreman with Bogle Farms until his retirement after fifty years of service. He was liked and respected by his co-workers, who valued his advice and experience.
He was known in the community for his kind and generous nature, his straight forward approach, his sense of humor, and for his large gardens with some of the best produce around, which he loved to share with his friends and neighbors.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will always be cherished for all the special times he shared, the simple truths he spoke, the timeless memories he created, the gifts from God he taught, and the purest of love he showed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lula Belyeu, his wife Wanna Lee Belyeu, a son Randle Belyeu, and all eleven of Floyds brothers and sisters
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Belyeu and his wife Fran of Roswell; Daughters: Shirley Rathbun and her husband Dan of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Linda Conklin and her husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter-in law Carolyn Belyeu of Brenham, Texas; Grandchildren: Christi Belyeu Bond, Shelly Belyeu Rogers, Kevin Belyeu, Kim Belyeu Villenueve, Amanda Rathbun Rich, Daniel Rathbun, Brian Conklin, Erin Conklin Moter; and 21 great-grandchildren.
