A rosary will be recited 9:30 am, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church for Frank "The Tank". A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at General Douglas McBride Veteran's Cemetery.
Frank "The Tank" Gross went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2015. He was born to Charles Gross and Josephine Donovan Gross on March 5, 1929 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Frank was a devout parishioner of the Assumption Catholic Church. He made regular philanthropic contributions to under-privileged children around the world.
Frank was a graduate of Penn State University where he was a championship boxer. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and dedicated his life to his work in accounting. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 25 years of service. He then became a sole-proprietor and opened his own business-Frank P. Gross Tax Services.
Grandpa Smokes enjoyed playing the piano, singing, bowling, smoking his pipe and eating chocolate. He was a connoisseur of fine scotches. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers and Penn State football fan.
His parents and 6 siblings precede him in death.
His legacy lives on through his five daughters he had with Nancy Barbour; Susie Solomon, of Albuquerque. NM; Valerie Davis, of Roswell, NM; Laurie Lovelady and her husband Martin Rexius, of Greensboro, NC; Jamie LaMure and her husband Dave, of Kimberly, ID and Natalie Finney, of Roswell, NM.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Britton and Jarrin Solomon; Allison Davis; Shane, Sara, Sean and Savannah Lovelady; Garrett and Carly LaMure; Amber, Ashley and April Finney, in addition to nine great-grandchildren.
Frank set the world on fire.....quietly!
Pallbearers will be Jarrin Solomon, Shane Lovelady, Sean Lovelady, Dave LaMure, Garrett LaMure, Martin Rexius, Erick Medellin.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the charity of your choice in his name.
