August 4, 1916 — December 3, 2012

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Georgia Pauline Polly Dugger Brewton, age 96 of Las Cruces, NM. Rev. Richard Smith will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Georgia Pauline Polly Dugger Brewton was born August 4, 1916, in Apache, OK, to Samuel Wylie Dugger and Mattie Carl Carrie Hayes Dugger. She graduated from high school in 1934 in Apache, then moved to Cottonwood, New Mexico, after marrying James Morgan Brewton on September 25, 1935. They lived in Tolleson, Arizona, for several years. They lost their 9monthold son there in April, 1937 and had 2 more sons.
They bought their farm in Artesia in 1946 and moved the family back to NM. Polly cooked, kept house, raised a garden, and worked in the fields with her husband and sons. Their daughter was born in 1954.

They moved to Roswell in 1973 to be close to their children. Five grandchildren graduated from Goddard High and 2 from Roswell high. She enjoyed having them pop by with their friends.

She worked at Anthonys for many years doing alterations. She left Anthonys at the age of 70 to start a business with her friend Ruby Chambers and Rubys sister, Sue.
She loved to cook and always had something good to eat. She loved to sew, crochet, and quilt. Polly always enjoyed learning something new, and later in life, learned to shoot pool, took painting lessons, and rode a Harley with her soninlaw. She had a knack for design, and sewed for her daughter, nieces, granddaughters, greatgranddaughters and daughtersinlaw. She grew beautiful flowers, belonging to the Iris Society in Roswell. She was always reading a new book, and loved her pets.

She moved to Las Cruces in her 80s to live with her daughter, Debbie. She started writing poetry, which she did well. She was asked to come to Las Vegas to read one of her poems but declined. Public speaking was the one thing she didnt want to do.
In September, 2012 she wrote a paper on what she remembered about her mother who died when she was 7 years old. It is posted on Ancestry. She loved being with her family and friends.

Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Wylie Carrie Dugger and stepmother, Amy Hollis Dugger, her husband, Morgan Brewton, her son, Morgan Leon
