Gertrude Zylstra

ZYLSTRA, GERTRUDE JOAN Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 at Redeemer Christian Fellowship Church for Gertrude Joan Zylstra, age 79, of Roswell who passed away on April 1, 2013. Pastor Timothy Hammons of The Redeemer Christian Fellowship Church will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Gertrude was born January 4, 1934 in Haledon, New Jersey to John and Tinnetta Faber, Jr. They have preceded her in death as well as two sisters, Wilma and Henrietta and two brothers, Everet and John Faber, III.
Gertrude and Marvin met as classmates at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating in 1955. They married after Marvins two year military obligation on May 29, 1957 in Patterson, New Jersey. He survives her at the family home.
Gertrude is also survived by two sons, Gerben John and his wife Jennifer of Roosevelt, New Jersey and David Alan of East Point, Michigan, three daughters, Wilma Miley and her husband Jewell Ray of Roswell, NM, Marie Anne Zylstra of Ft. Worth, TX, and Carol Joy Rouse and her husband William of Elgin, TX, one brother, Jay Faber of Midland Park, NJ, six grandchildren, Emily Reese, Billy Sarris, Marjie DAngelo, Joshua and Jacob Miley and Kailin Rouse, three great grandchildren, Stevie DAngelo, Logan Lupico, and Emir Wilson.
Gertrude was a homemaker. She enjoyed music, knitting, cross stitch, playing the piano in church, teaching Sunday School and tutoring.
