Gordon Lack

LACK, GORDON ERIC Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at South Park Cemetery, for Gordon Eric Lack, age 90, of Roswell, who passed away August 29, 2010 at a local nursing home. Commander Robert Maples, Retired US Navy Chaplain, will conduct the service, assisted by The Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.

Gordon was born July 1, 1920 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, to Horace Owen and Edith Clark Lack. He came to the United States as a baby. Raised in Brighton, New York.

He enlisted in the U. S. Navy on October 20, 1937. He served on USS Minneapolis, the USS St. Mihiel, US Naval Station, in Seattle, WA, the USS Willoughby, the USS Huntington, USS Aldebran, USS Paukatut. He was honorably discharged in November 1947. While in the Navy duty took him to many ports of call.

He worked broadcasting, working with KPHC, Walsenburg, Colorado, KLMX, Clayton, NM, WPEO, Peoria, IL., WRAY, Princeton, IN. Fidelity Broadcasting System, Jacksonville FL, KGAR, Garden City, KS, WNXT, Portsmouth, OH, WRAYTV, Princeton, IN, KLMS, Lincoln, NE, KECK, Odessa, TX, KFSATV, Fort Smith, AR, KVSOTV, Ardmore, OK. In Feb. of 1959, he came to the John Barnet Station KSWSTV in Roswell, NM. Later 19701982 did program Inspiration Sundays only for KBIMAM, in Roswell. He also worked for state of New Mexico, New Mexico Rehabilitation Administration, from 1970 until retirement in 1982.

He was a member of American Legion Post NM 0027, Life Member of BPOE, AARP, Navy Shellback and Golden Dragon.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Dorothy Edith Del Lack, of Albq., NM and Christie Eileen Garfield, and soninlaw, Walter Garfield of Corona, NM. Also surviving are nephews, Phillip Kurtz of Rochester, NY, and Thomas Kurtz, and his wife Margaret Kurtz, both of Las Vegas, NV.
