SCHMID, HANS K.Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P. M., Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at South Park Cemetery for Hans K. Schmid, age 95, of Roswell, who passed away October 30, 2009.

Hans was born September 6, 1914 in Roswell, NM to Jacob and Anna Schmid. He married Marjorie Hennessey on July 27, 1947 in Dexter, NM. She preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Heine, Charlie, and Roy, and two sisters, Helen Schmid Marshall and Elizabeth Schmid..

At an early age, Hans went to work for A.D. Jones ranch where he learned about sheep. His next job was at the Curtis Hill farm, dealing with the breeding and showing of Hereford cattle. He then farmed on his own for several years, and later worked as a serviceman for Arrow Gas.

Hans had a great love for horses, owned and trained many in his life, and enjoyed sharing stories about them.

Hans is survived by a brother: Herbert Schmid and his wife Goldie; three sisters: Mary Deborde and her husband, Pete, Virginia Brewer and her husband, Sidney, and Marcine McDaniel and her husband, Clayton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and by his friend, Helen Stewart.
