Harold Stokes

STOKES, HAROLD M. died Sunday, October 7, 2007, at his home in Roswell. His wife, Peggy L. Stokes, survives him at the home.

Harold was born 3111919 in Lingleville, TX, to Jack and Verda Stokes. He graduated from High School in Lingleville, and attended college for one year at Abilene Christian University. In 1942 he married Dora Williams. He is survived by three children of this marriage: Sharon Sue Bullard of Sterling, VA, Marshall Craig Stokes and Michael Gordon Stokes of Abilene, TX.

He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Natalie Bullard Saleki of Herndon, VA, Mindy Bullard Greenwell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Blakey Bullard of Leesburg, VA, Lana Shae Jennigan of Leesburg, VA, Derek Stokes of Abilene, TX, Christie Stokes Pruitt of Abilene, TX, Brian Stokes of Ft. Worth, TX, Bradley Stokes of Colorado Springs, CO, In addition he is survived by eight great grandchildren.

He and his wife, Peggy, married in 1955 and lived around 27 years in Denver, CO. Harold was Regional Sales Manager for an Advertising Specialty Firm, at one time had about 24 sales people covering territories in 4 to 5 states. In 1982 they moved to Roswell for retirement. They later moved to Green Valley, AZ and Las Cruces, NM returning to Roswell in 1994.

A short memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Rev Tracy Spencer-Brown will conduct the service.

Memorial Contributions in Harolds name may be made to Westminster Church on the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico in Roswell.
