Hazel Fern McInnes, age 82, of Roswell went home to be with the Lord Monday January 25, 2016. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday January 28, 2016 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday January 29, 2016 at Tabernacle Baptist Church; burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park. Reverend Jason Perry will be officiating.
Hazel was born April 25, 1933 in East Grand Plains, Roswell, NM to Charlie and Emma Wright. She married the love of her life Willie McInnes on July 3, 1951. In 1952, they moved to Portales, NM to make their living as farmers. There they raised three boys, operated Continental Oil Company, and took care of their farm. In 1973, they returned to Roswell and to the McInnes family ranch, 57 miles NW of Roswell. She continued to be a busy rancher's wife until her death. She never complained and was eternally grateful for the blessings she had received. Hazel loved the Lord and raised her family to follow Him.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Charlie and Emma Wright; sisters Leona Wright, Mildred Jones, Margaret Bratcher, Glenda Bratcher, and Inez Allen; brothers Rochell Wright and Kenneth Wright; two sons Sammy McInnes and Dale McInnes.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 64 years Willie McInnes; one sister Ruth Gaines; son Danny McInnes; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved life and set a good example for all those who knew and loved her. She will be missed and remembered.
