BACON, HELEN C. -- Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 15, 2008 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, for Helen Corbett Bacon who passed away, Monday, March 10, 2008, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Fr. Bob Tally of St. Andrews Episcopal will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.BRBRHelen was born on October 4, 1912 in Tungchow, China of Presbyterian missionary parents, Minnie and Charles Corbett, who have predeceased her in death as well as an infant son and two older brothers, Alfred and Hunter Corbett. BRBRShe graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, New York and attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia. She then married Robert Bowman Bacon in New York.

After living in Chicago, Boston, Grand Rapids, Rockford, Illinois, and Dallas, they came to Roswell and were associated with RBS Insurance Agency. Helen received the Service to Mankind award for her numerous volunteer activities, which included the American Cancer Society, Little Theater, Community Concerts, and Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a nationally accredited flower show judge. BRBRShe is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Betty Petkovich and her husband John of Asheville, North Carolina and Jeanette Janny Hickman of Roswell.

After Helens husband, Robert, died in 1996 Janny came to live with her here in Roswell. She is a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Petkovich, Tim Cusack, Brad Pretti, King Redd, Larry Knadle, Richard Knadle, Gabe Martin, Pete Corbett, Ron Collins, David Knadle, Paul Corbett and George Bowman Bacon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Roswell Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Frontier Medical and all the medical professionals in the community who provided such loving care.
