Helen Lee (Crabb) Greer
Helen Lee (Crabb) Greer, Long time resident, age 88, passed into Glory, November 6th, 2023.
She was gloriously met there by her parents, Archie Crabb and Grace (Bradley) Crabb, her Husband of 32 years, Jack M. Greer, her brothers George, Raymond and John Wayne Crabb also daughter, Colleen Ray.
We that are remaining here are left to ‘savor’ her memory, including hundreds of neighbors, extensive but ever close family, co-workers, china-painting students and strangers that just happened to be fortunate enough to experience her out-pouring of giving, love and humor. Helen’s only sister, Mary Ruth Findley, sons, Kurt Alan, Fred Greer, his wife Denise, her daughter, Jamie Burmeister and husband, Scott Alan. She left behind four grandchildren, Shane Davis, of Colorado, Joshua Wayne Greer, of Albuquerque, Zacheriah John House of Colorado, Jessica (Burmeister) Tapia and her husband Zachery of Albuquerque. Her JOY was complete getting to know her precious great-grandchildren. Aspen Rose, 5, Madison May, 3 and Matthew Mark Alan Tapia, 2.
Helen attended school in Dexter, Hagerman and Carlsbad, graduating from Dexter in 1952. She worked several places while in school but found her niche with Mountain Bell Telephone Co. and never looked back. Taking her from Roswell in 1954 to Oregon until 1958 then to Tucumcari where she met Jack. When Bell went dial in 1962, they moved to Albuquerque until 1973, but when the Pacific Ocean called, they moved to Rohnert Park, CA, where she retired from Pacific Bell in 1988.
She and Kurt followed her youngest son’s family and school-aged grandson to Denver where they loved life for a few years until she heard the call of’ ‘home’ and returned to Roswell late in 1991. Here she has stayed for 32 years.
Raised Baptist, Helen was an active member of her churches along the way. Her love of the Arts, cooking and sewing, always drove her but her love of painting finally took over her days and nights.
With passion promoted, learning, teaching and hosting the Professional Porcelain China Painting. she chaired most years, Helen also resided as president of the Roswell Chapter, produced 3 State Conferences along with supporting and chairing the NM chapter of the Telephone Pioneers; retirees dedicated to community service.
