Helen Raney

Helen Clarice Raney was called home by her Lord and Savior Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Roswell, NM.

Her Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Roswell, NM.  Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Helen was born in Caldwell, Idaho on March 4, 1930 to George Sherman Church and Mary Esther Allen.  She married Lester Raney on September 18, 1954.  They were blessed with three children.  Barbara Ellen, Mary Allison and Mark Allen.  She was an amazing mother to all.

Helen was known as “Momma”, “Aunt Helen” or “GoGo”.  She never met a stranger, was kind to everyone, always had a cup of coffee to share, a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.  She shared her love for Jesus at every opportunity.  She gave great advice, but always reminded you that what you did with that advice was “up to you”.

Helen is survived by her children, Barbara Ellen Adams and husband David of Roswell, Mary Allison Barton and husband Van of Tillamook, OR and Mark Allen Raney and wife Maricela of Roswell.  Grandchildren Michael Adams, Shane Adams and wife Kayleen, Jason Adams and wife Clarissa, Rebekah Wiggins, Mona Wiggins, Roderick Rolfe and wife Jaselynn, Aryn Overcash and husband Cody, Tyler Raney, Caleb Raney, Darey Ledezma and Jazlyn Ledezma.  Great Grandchildren Cameron Adams, Brandon Adams, Logan Urquides, Sebastian Emery, Azaleigh Emery, Perseus Rolfe Colton Overcash and Christian Overcash.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester Raney, granddaughter Christal Adams-Urquides and siblings Edward Church, Wilma Fisher, Lorene Black and Allen Church.
