Helen Sager

January 4, 1913 — February 20, 2010

SAGER, HELEN Helen Louise Chandler Sager was born January 4, 1913 in Abo, Missouri to Joseph Chandler and Lula Johnson Chandler. She passed away on February 20, 2010 at the age of 97, in Roswell, New Mexico.

She grew up in Abo where her father ran a mill, general store, post office, and popular hunting and fishing lodge. As a child, Helen enjoyed entertaining family, friends, and tourists by playing the piano. After graduation from high school in Lebanon, Missouri, Helen moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she attended beauty school. She was a successful business woman owning her own beauty shop for many years. After retiring, she and her husband Owen moved to New Mexico for health reasons.

Helen was an accomplished piano player she played for her church in Kansas City, as well as the Roswell Joy Center and the Roswell Adult Center. She also played with a big band music group known as the Moonlighters for many years.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her son Mike, her husband Owen, her two sisters Thelma Willard and Polly Clark as well as her brother Howard Chandler and her companion of 25 years Roy Brady.

Helen is survived by her brother Stanley Chandler of Yakima Washington, her niece Chandra Willard Kirby of Bolivar, Missouri and several great nieces and nephews as well Joseph Allen Brady, and Jacob Brady

Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Robert Williams officiating.
