WITT, HOWARD JAMES JIM--A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 1413 South Union, Roswell, NM 88201 for Howard James Jim Witt, age 83, of Roswell who passed away on August 27, 2009 at a local care center. Dr. Ruth Fowler of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. BRBRJim was born February 10, 1926 to Charlie and Minnie Witt in Roanoke, VA. They have preceded him in death as well as a son, Richard Lewis, a daughter, Sheila, three brothers, Robert, Lewis and Russell and a sister Mae.

Jim married Billie Louise Woolsey on March 24, 1984. She survives him at the family home.

Jim is survived by his sons: David Witt of Carver, MA, Ralph Witt and his wife Candice of Centerville, MA, Stephen Witt and his wife RoseMary of Grand Prairie, TX, Russell Witt and his wife Maurine of Carver, MA, Christopher Witt and his wife Laura of Hyannis, MA; Daughters: Linda Averinos of Centerville, MA, Norma Witt of Wichita Falls, TX, Theresa Maxwell and Pete Dandor of Hyannis,MA, Kristina McCroan and her husband Glen of Flowery Branch, GA, and Johanna Morse and her husband Tom of Sandwich, MA; brothers: Peter Witt and Charlie Witt; sisters: Christine Smith, Catherine and Ada Belle Wyant of TN; Twenty Nine Grandchildren and Eighteen Great Grandchildren.

Jim is also survived by four stepsons: David Woolsey and his wife Barbara of Clovis, NM, Richard Woolsey and his wife Dawn of Bremerton, WA, Doug Woolsey and his wife Julie of HI, and one stepdaughter Cathy Betancur and her husband Vic of Dallas, TX; six step grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

BRJim was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Boiler room engineer for Gillette Safety Razor for thirty two years. Jim was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
