Imogene Davis

Davis, Imogene Jean - Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at South Park Cemetery, for Imogene Davis, age 83, who passed away May 31, 2008 after a lengthy illness.

Imogene was born to Dewey Baker Savell and Lida Dydilla Phillips in Desdemona, TX on December 28, 1924. She was raised in the Big Spring, TX area and met George Davis, Jr. and married on August 6, 1946 in Abilene TX. George Davis, Jr. preceded her in death on March 26, 1988.

Imogene and George Davis, Jr. moved to Artesia, NM in 1948 where he managed the Bowman Lumber Co lumber yard until they moved to Roswell in 1962 as an area manger of the Bowman stores of NM. In 1969 Imogene and George Davis, Jr., started their own business, Davis Lumber and Hardware which is continued to be operated by the Davis family.

Imogene was very active in the Family business until 1988, when she retired. She was a member of the South Main Church of Christ and attended for many years. She also was a member of the Roswell Assembly 116 Social Order of the Beauceant, and Past Matron of Roswell Chapter 10 Order of Eastern Star. She also served as Mother Advisor for Zia Assembly 49 Rainbow for Girls.

Imogene is survived by her son; Dewey Davis and his wife Debbie of Roswell, two Grandsons; Darren Davis and his wife Melissa of Roswell and Darrell Davis and his wife Alice of Frisco, TX. She is also survived by seven Great-Grand-Children: Stephanie Wall, Kendra Wall, Dylan Davis, Kimberly Davis, Oliver Davis, Grayer Davis and Owen Davis as well as one sister: June Gibbs of Memphis TX and two brothers: Floyd Savell of Austin, TX and Mike Savell of Hobbs, NM.

The Davis Family wishes a very heart felt thank you to all the many friends that helped Imogene through her extended illness, and a special gratitude is extended to the staff of VistaCare Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Holloway, Alan Sims, Bud Kunkel, Chad Holloway, Allen Holloway, and Jerry Hendricks. Graveside services will be conducted by Roswell Chapter 10 Order of Eastern Star and Cecil Kimberlin, Chaplain from VistaCare Hospice.
