Irene was born to Henry Earl Porter and Lucille McAlister-Porter January 21, 1925 in Russellville, Arkansas. She married Howard William Dorman May 17, 1941 in Hagerman, New Mexico. She enjoyed many facets of life, from those around the house like cooking, sewing, gardening; as an adult she learned to swim and water ski; and she was active in Dexter community events. Prior to moving to Roswell, Irene worked long hours at the Valley Grocery #2 store in which she was co-owner as well. The grandkids remember her special treatment when they came to visit; their favorites were her pies, Christmas candy and cookies, chicken and dumplings, and everyone who went to school with her kids knew of her sugar cookies as she was the classroom mother.
She is preceded in death by parents Henry Earl Porter and Lucille McAlister-Porter, husband Howard William Dorman, and son Howard Dean Dorman.
She is survived by daughters Dianne Price of Midland, TX; Karen Arnold of Roswell, NM; sister Betty L. Richardson of Albuquerque, NM; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews of Roswell and West Texas.
